I find it very interesting that people have such
fierce differences when we all have so much in common. Whether humanity wants
to accept it or not we all came from the same place and are all going to the
same place eventually. We just take different roads to get there. Differences
in opinion are at the very basis of creative thinking and the mother of new
ideas.
At our core we all want the same things. People want
security, acceptance, love, opportunity, and the general feeling of having a
real purpose in life. People also want to know that they won’t be shunned for
having a unique belief system that might not fit in to the cookie cutter
characteristics that society expects from a “normal” individual.
I believe all people are born 100% good and through
life choices and experiences either start to acquire and adopt more good traits
or somehow take a wrong turn and start to take on bad traits. It all really
boils down to your reaction to life’s action. Out of a negative event some will
draw motivation to make it better and some will draw anger or hate that it
happened to them.
The fact is that in this world it is very possible to
be disliked because of your race, or your personal beliefs, because of where
you live or what you do, because of who you love or because of who loves you.
In this world people might choose to put you down because you are a woman or
because of a stereotype or maybe just because they want to be you and hold
strong insecurities about themselves.
So often all the bad or evil in the world is spoken of
so frequently. Each time you turn on the news you hear about yesterday’s
robbery, or today’s assault or some other tragedy. You hear of riots and scams,
and of tricks and cheats done unto others. Kindness has been starved of its 3
square meals these days.
So, what is it to be kind? Is it doing your good deed
for the day, so Karma doesn’t come hunting for you? Is it helping someone just
to make you feel better about a wrongdoing? Or is it taking care of the sick?
Visiting the jailed? Clothing the naked? Housing the homeless? Giving to the
poor? Loving the loveless? Spending time with the lonely? Giving direction to
the lost? And giving hope to the hopeless?
But remember there are two sides to every coin. These
acts are not to be confused with enabling the lazy, giving to the greedy,
loving of betrayers, taking undeserved pity on the ruthless, justifying the
actions of the mean and hateful, giving resources to false people in need,
coddling the capable, or making excuses for those in the wrong.
In a world where right has become wrong and wrong has
become right people are afraid to stand up for what they believe in. Words and
insults are thrown around without purpose. What happened to being praised for
standing up for what is right? What happened to the pledge of allegiance in
schools? What happened to disciplining our kids? Oh, that’s right, that’s a
prison guards job now days! What happened to praying for a safe day or humbling
yourself before God and thanking him for your blessings? We need to make Humanity
kind again. We need to make Humanity loved again. We need to make Humanity wise
again.
Why are we so quick to call someone small minded or
flat out stupid for not sharing the same political beliefs? Like I mentioned
earlier in this article, I believe we all want the same things but express our
want for those things in different ways. Who does not want secure borders? Who
does not want equal opportunity? Who does not want to put Humanity first? Who
does not want peace and prosperity for every man, woman and child in our
nation? I don’t think there is 1 individual who doesn’t want those things.
So how can we achieve them? We must get back to
kindness among communities. We must get back to helping our neighbor instead of
battling our neighbor. We must get back to law and order. It’s about making it
to where all lives matter to all that are living. It’s about finding a way to
make our differences in opinion into the jet fuel that propels us into a world
we are proud of. It’s about promoting strong values in our communities that our
generation will be raised in. It’s about having an economy that people don’t
drown in, a government that people can actually trust again, laws that make
sense again, companies that invest in people again, and a nation that cares
again.
I want to walk down a street where people give genuine
smiles again. A road where a woman can wear what she wants without being
concerned about her safety again. A road where a man can be a man without being
called a chauvinist again. A road where marriage is sacred again. A road that
leads to human morals.
Kindness is in the heart of all of us. So many times,
we hear the question of how do we fix this corrupt and cold world? The answer
is start living a kinder life. People need to realize that no one man or
woman can solve our problems. They can lead people in a positive direction,
promote what is good for all, motivate change for the better and pioneer new
ideas but still not be the total solution. It must be a group effort at the
community level. We need change in our businesses, our schools, and our
neighborhoods. We need unity of the good people and exile of the bad. Some say
clean the swamp, I say take out the trash.
God created us all in his image and likeness. He
created us all with eyes, noses, mouths and faces that are perfectly imperfect.
We are all here for a reason and to achieve certain objectives which some would
call our destiny. Sometimes people see someone else’s objectives as a threat
simply because they are not the same as their own. If people would realize that
the way to achieve your objectives is to work together. You never hear of
people building a great building alone or developing a cure for a disease alone
or changing the world alone. God intended for us all to work together to enrich
the quality of life for all.
Whether you are concerned about healthcare, security,
the economy, taxes, jobs, gender equality or preservation of rights we can all
agree there is more than one way to get to where we want to be. Just like when
you go on a road trip there are many roads that lead to the same place, some
are just quicker than others.
Everyone has unique talents, gifts, and thought
processes that are useful and valuable to the world. This article should
extract those gifts and put them to use in a real-life scenario where someone’s
life can be changed for the better. Kindness begins with one act that
influences another to do the same act of kindness to another. So be the gift
you want to receive and spread the word that kindness is making a comeback.
